Dezaray Garner (she/her/hers) is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) supervised by Ayla Peret, LCSW-S. She received a Bachelors of Arts in Social Work from St. Edward’s University and later earned her Masters of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin with a clinical concentration in 2024.Before attending St.Edward’s, Dezaray completed a teaching internship at a middle school in Southeast Austin where she found a passion for working with adolescents who are fierce advocates for themselves and are deep feelers. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Dezaray worked in a community based behavioral program in California, where she utilized behavioral principles to support youth to remain with their families or transition to a lower level of care (from hospitalization back home). While working on her master’s degree, Dezaray worked at the SAFE Alliance, where she supported folx who experienced intimate partner violence. Dezaray completed her final graduate practicum at Austin DBT Associates, where she received intensive training in adherent DBT and provided individual therapy and co-facilitated adolescent and adult skills class.
Dezaray is passionate about collaborating with clients to help them build a life authentic to themselves and create meaningful connections with those in their lives. She believes that through vulnerability, connection and practice we are able to create a life worth living.
Dezaray is originally from the Austin Area (she grew up just south of Austin but spent all of her free time in Austin). In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, trying new restaurants (accepting new recommendations to try), and cuddling with her pup watching t.v.
