Shana Alexander is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Board Certified (PMHNP-BC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor (LPC-S) with a passion for delivering personalized mental health care. Her approach is centered on the idea that each individual's unique strengths and challenges are essential to explore, allowing for the development of a tailored treatment plan that honors their individuality. Shana firmly believes that attempting to fit individuals into a generic mold or template is not only ineffective but also undermines their distinct identity.
Throughout her extensive clinical experience, Shana has worked with diverse populations, including those struggling with mood, personality, and anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, grief and loss, homelessness, active-duty service members and veterans, and individuals in the criminal justice system. Her expertise has been shaped by her training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), practicing DBT across various modalities, including individual, family, couples, group, and community-based therapy.
Shana's academic background includes two Master's degrees: one in Counseling from St. Edwards University and another in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. After seven years of adherent DBT counseling with ADBTA, Shana is now proud to offer medication management services as part of her comprehensive approach.
Recognizing the challenges of balancing therapy and medication, Shana prioritizes building a collaborative relationship with her clients, providing a sense of security and stability as they navigate their unique journey towards mental wellness.
In her spare time, Shana enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and three wiener dogs.
